Description and Expectation:

We worked to create this specially made Hungarian cooking meal  just for the Budataste community. This is a new thing! Here we learn step-by-step how to make a delicious typical Hungarian Chicken paprikash and home-made Hungarian-style Rákóczi cottage cheese. You also get to try a shot of authentic Hungarian Unicum or traditional Hungarian Palinka. But you can change these drink tastings for other drinks, if you prefer something easier.

As a Budataste  community guest, you arrive at the time that you choose, to a specially set up cooking area. You’ll be given a digital tablet and all of the pre-cut and pre-mesured ingredients you’ll need in your cooking class. The digital tablet has detailed, set-by-step instructional video demonstrations, and there is someone next to you at all times to help and explain the step-by-step process. There will likely be other couple or groups cooking also, learning independently.

How does this unique Budapest cooking class works?

  1. The menus and recipes are planned by well-known figures of Hungarian gastronomy and chosen by Budataste for this Budapest cooking class.
  2. The meal you’ll be making is a typical Hungarian Chicken paprikash and home-made Hungarian-style Rákóczi cottage cheese, you will receive the ingredients on a wooden serving tray.
  3. Everything is set up so that you don’t have to spend time on the difficult part of cooking: the onions are diced, and the cheese and spices are pre-mesured, for example.
  4. your in-person helper will explain how everything works again, show you your tablet, and explain how to best use the step-by-step helping guides.
  5. Cook together! The fun part is cooking together with your group or partner, with the help of each other, your in-person guide, and the step-by-step videos.
  6. Once you have finished with the actual cooking, enjoy your meal with your friends or partner! Try out the traditional Hungarian Unicum or Palinka that comes with your meal!
  7. No cleaning is needed, of course! The most dreaded part of cooking is taken care of!
